WHAT TO EXPECT

We know going to a new church for the first time can be somewhat uncomfortable to say the least.
But we want to help make your first experience at Blessed Hope Baptist Church a good one by telling you what you can expect before you come.

First, those that make up Blessed Hope Baptist Church are a group of Christians that love the Lord, love the word of God, and enjoy fellowship among like minded Saints.

What are our services like?

Sunday School
In Sunday School, we are currently studying Foundational Doctrines of the Bible and are covering those doctrines, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:10).
With attention to detail, and with carefulness handling the word of God, our Pastor teaches what the Bible says, as it stands, letting the Bible speak for itself. During this time, we also learn a new hymn. We sing through it every Sunday School Service until we are ready to move on and learn another. What a blessing it is to learn those precious hymns!

We usually have a 15 minute break in between Sunday School and the Morning Services and are treated with some good food our ladies so generously prepare and bring for us. During this break, it also gives us all time to catch up with one another, and prepare our hearts for the Morning  Service.

Sunday Morning Service
During the Morning Service, one of our men will read a chapter out of  the word of God as we are reading completely through the Bible together as a church. We take prayer requests, pray, and open our services with song from the great hymns of the faith. We indeed do take our singing seriously here and lift up our voices unto the Lord. He truly is worthy to be sung of and to! The hymns we sing serve to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, teach doctrine, and edify the Saint.

On occasion, there are several people in our church that will have a “Special” song (or referred to in the Bible as a “spiritual song”). God has gifted certain members with musical abilities and we are blessed when they share them with the church!

After song, our Pastor brings forth a message from the word of God, which may be from a book of the Bible that he is preaching through, or a topic, that is helpful, thought provoking, maybe sometimes convicting, but always meant to encourage, strengthen, and equip God’s people.

Sunday Evening Worship
Hebrews 10:25 tells us, ” but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” We take every opportunity to gather twice on Sunday to exhort one another and enjoy the fellowship of the Saints before we head out into our week.

Similar to the morning service, we sing hymns and hear a message from the word of God as our Pastor preaches and teaches through a book of the Bible. Before this service, we may listen to a testimony of God’s goodness and dealings in the lives of His people, or take a special song request, or hear a special that is sung or played.

Mid-Week Service
We realize most people have busy schedules, especially during the week, so we meet early enough so that you won’t be out too late. The mid-week service is a time for us to escape the cares of the world and once again get around the fellowship of like minded Christians. Like our Sunday Services, we take prayer requests, spend time in prayer, sing soul stirring hymns, and hear a message from the word of God as our Pastor preaches and teaches through a book of  the Bible.
